"Soler Power" has been on full display with Omaha since June 5, with Storm Chasers outfielder Jorge Soler crushing seven home runs in his ten games since joining the club from Kansas City. That includes a legendary two-homer game on June 11, during which he smashed a game-tying ninth inning

"Soler Power" has been on full display with Omaha since June 5, with Storm Chasers outfielder Jorge Soler crushing seven home runs in his ten games since joining the club from Kansas City. That includes a legendary two-homer game on June 11, during which he smashed a game-tying ninth inning longball, following by a walk-off grand slam one frame later. He also drove in six runs in that contest, a single-game career-high.

Soler had been with the Storm Chasers earlier this season as part of a Major League Rehab Assignment. In 11 games from April 21-May 4 he hit .308 (12-39) with three runs, three homers and seven RBI. He returned to the Royals on May 4, however, with the emergence of rookie outfielder Jorge Bonifacio , Soler was sent to Omaha to get every day at-bats.
Since beginning his second stint of 2017 with Omaha on June 5, Soler has posted a .243 average (9-37), adding nine runs, one double, seven homers and 17 RBI, along with seven walks in just ten games. Eight of his nine hits have gone for extra bases, including those seven big flies.
In the time period between June 5-15, no player in Minor League Baseball has more home runs or RBI than Soler. His 17 runs driven in are the most of any player, while only Round Rock's Drew Robinson has matched Soler's seven shots in that span. Soler's .838 slugging percentage also ranks tied for sixth in the Pacific Coast League. It only took 18 games for him to also become Omaha's top home run hitter.
"He's gotten himself to a point where his bat speed is back and he's taking some good swings," Storm Chasers manager Brian Poldberg told the Omaha World-Herald's Tony Boone after Soler's two-homer game. "He's still going to have strikeouts. That's the type of hitter he is. But when he does hit it, it has a chance to do some big things."
Storm Chasers' fans' next chance to see Soler will likely be during the team's upcoming four-game homestand with the Memphis Redbirds between June 22-25. See below for the promotional highlights for that series.
