BELOIT, WI (July 2, 2019) - George Soriano went the distance for the Clinton LumberKings in a 3-0 shutout win over the Beloit Snappers on Tuesday night at Pohlman Field. Bubba Hollins led the way at the plate with a three-hit performance that extended his hitting streak to 10-games.
Soriano (2-5) turned in his second complete game of the season with nine shutout innings that gave him his second win of the year. He never allowed a runner to reach to third and ended his night having scattered five hits, while walking one and striking out seven.
The LumberKings (7-5, 40-41) were led by Bubba Hollins at the plate. His first hit of the night came in the second inning and went for a double down the line in right - the only extra base hit of the game. Hollins scored four pitches later when Evan Edwards singled up the middle.
Beloit (2-9, 29-50) starter Chase Cohen was hung with the loss for allowing the second inning run, but allowed no more. Cohen (4-8) turned in four innings, allowing one run on four hits while walking one and striking out five.
In the top of the eighth, Clinton put the game out of reach with a two-run rally. Peyton Burdick walked to open the inning and moved to third on a Connor Scott single. An RBI groundout by Hollins brought home Burdick and two batters later Scott scored on a wild pitch.
Soriano then closed the door in the ninth when Anthony Churlin grounded into a game ending fielder's choice with runners at first and second.
