The Spikes (34-31) and Crosscutters (30-32) produced just one hit apiece over the first three innings, but State College broke through to plate a pair of runs in the fourth.

With the loss, the Spikes fell to four games back of Mahoning Valley for the New York-Penn League Pinckney Division lead with 11 games remaining in the regular season. State College stayed 3 ½ games back of Hudson Valley in the race for the league's lone Wild Card berth.

The Spikes now head to Monongalia County Ballpark in Granville, WV on Monday to begin a six-game road trip with the opener of a three-game set at the West Virginia Black Bears (Pittsburgh Pirates). State College will send NYPL All-Star left-hander

State College will face the Mahoning Valley Scrappers (Cleveland Indians) in a three-game set that begins on Thursday to complete the road swing before coming home on Sunday, September 3 to start the last homestand of the regular season.
