Brock Stassi drilled a grand slam to lift the IronPigs(62-40) to a 5-0 shutout victory over the Gwinnett Braves (50-50) Tuesday afternoon at Coca Cola Park.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Harold Martinez pinch hit in the pitcher spot and was followed by two consecutive walks to J.P. Crawford and Rhys Hoskins to load the bases for Stassi. Stassi then came to the plate and launched grand slam over the right field wall to give the Pigs a 5-0 lead. It was Stassi's third home run of the season, and his first career grand slam as an IronPig.
The Pigs jumped out on top in the bottom of the first inning, as Scott Kingery came around to score on a sacrifice fly to right field. Kingery led off the frame with an infield single, extending his hit streak to 11 games.
Pigs starter Yacksel Ríos tossed two innings surrendering just one hit while striking out a pair. He did not factor into the decision.
Fresh up from Double-A Reading, Joey DeNato spelled Rios as he tossed three scoreless innings while surrendering just one hit. He picked up his first career Triple-A win in just his second outing for the Pigs.
The combination of Michael Mariot, Pat Venditte and Pedro Beato finished it off for the Pigs, as the trio tossed the final four innings with Venditte tossing two scoreless.
Mariot did not issue a hit but did surrender a walk, and Beato issued the first base hit of the ball game to venture into the outfield at Coca Cola Park this evening for either team.
The series continues with game three of the four-game set Wednesday afternoon against the Gwinnet Braves. The Pigs will send right-hander Mark Leiter Jr. (1-1, 4.88) and the G-Braves will send right-hander Kris Medlen (1-2, 5.15). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Come out to celebrate your two favorite IronPigs mascots, as we celebrate Ferrous and FeFe's birthday!
