Storm Chasers Fall 4-3 in Extras to Mud Hens

TOLEDO, OHIO – The Omaha Storm Chasers (18-16/51-57) fell 4-3 to the Toledo Mud Hens (18-16/52-56) in 10 innings on Tuesday night. Omaha starter Ryan Ramsey fired a quality start and Brandon Drury went 2-for-4 with a home run, but it wasn’t enough to get the Storm Chasers the win.

Ramsey worked a scoreless bottom of the 1st inning, and Omaha got on the board first with a solo home run from Matthew Lugo in the top of the 2nd inning, giving the Storm Chasers a 1-0 lead.

Ramsey then struck out 2 in a perfect 2nd inning but gave up a solo home run in the bottom of the 3rd inning to tie the game 1-1.

Drury then helped Omaha take back the lead 2-1 with an RBI single in the top of the 4th inning, but the Mud Hens tied it 2-2 on the first pitch of the bottom of the 4th inning with a leadoff home run off Ramsey.

The Storm Chasers turned back to Ramsey in the bottom of the 5th inning, and he struck out the side, then struck out one more in a scoreless 6th inning.

Drury followed with a go-ahead solo home run in the top of the 7th inning, claiming a 3-2 advantage for Omaha.

Anthony Gose took over for Ramsey to begin the bottom of the 7th inning, with Ramsey’s quality start featuring 6.0 innings of 2-run ball, as he struck out 6 and allowed just 3 hits.

Toledo tied the game 3-3 in the bottom of the 7th inning, scoring a run on a double play ball off Gose, but Eli Morgan took over in the 8^th with a perfect inning, striking out 2.

Morgan then stranded the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th inning, sending the game to extras tied 3-3.

Omaha went down in order in the top of the 10th inning, stranding the placed runner on second base, and Justin Topa (0-2) took over on the mound for the bottom half, but allowed the walk-off RBI single to finish the 4-3 loss.

The Storm Chasers get back to work on Wednesday night for the second game of the series with the Mud Hens. First pitch is set for 6:05 P.M. CT and Vince Velasquez is scheduled to start for Omaha.
