Lake Elsinore, CA – The Quakes got rocked for the second time in three days down at The Diamond, dropping a 22-4 decision to the Lake Elsinore Storm, their second 18-run defeat in their last three games.

A nine-run sixth blew the doors off for the Storm, as Lake Elsinore has won three of the five games in the series thus far.

Leading 1-0 in the first, Rancho starter Roque Gutierrez (0-1) was unable to protect the lead, as the first five Storm hitters reached and scored, as a three-run double from Devin Ortiz highlighted the five-run first.

Trailing 5-1 in the fourth, Dayton Dooney blasted a three-run triple, making it 5-4.

That’s as close as the Quakes would get though, as the Storm would score the final 17 runs of the game.

Storm reliever Enmanuel Linares (1-0) was credited with the win, tossing 2.1 innings of scoreless relief in his Storm debut.

The Quakes (11-12, 50-39) will send Christian Romero (5-0) to the mound in Sunday’s finale, as the Storm will counter with Miguel Mendez (1-2). Game time from The Diamond will be 1:15pm.

The Quakes return to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, July 25, hosting San Jose for six straight. Tuesday will be a Healthy RC Recycle Tuesday, as fans can visit the website to score a FREE Club Seat Ticket. Tickets are currently available at rcquakes.com. Go Quakes!
