The first 1,250 fans in attendance on Saturday, 7/29 to the P-Nats' 6:35pm game against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (Chicago Cubs) will receive a Stephen Strasburg Flamethrower Bobblehead sponsored by: Flying Dog Brewery.
The unique Strasburg bobblehead features the Washington Nationals' ace starting pitcher holding a backpack flamethrower to symbolize his unparalleled power arm.
After the game, post-game fireworks will light up the Northern Virginia night sky presented by: WTOP.
Also on Saturday night, Sentara will host "Strike Out Stroke Night" at The Pfitz.
Since then, Strasburg has compiled over 1,000 strikeouts through his big league career. His first career strikeout came against Lastings Milledge of the Pirates with two outs in the first inning of his debut. The right-hander has continued to dial up the heat in his eighth professional season with the first place Nationals, where he set a new career high in strikeouts with 15 against the San Diego Padres on May 27th.
To spice up the night, the P-Nats will serve a fan-favorite, gameday snack, Flaming Hot Cheetos, in the concession stand.
A hot Strasburg-themed deal in the National Mall Team Store will run throughout the game as any fans who spend $25 or more in the official merchandise hub of the Potomac Nationals at Pfitzner Stadium will be automatically entered to win a Stephen Strasburg autographed Carolina League baseball courtesy of the P-Nats.
The P-Nats will also offer special concession deals in the spiciest stand at The Pfitz, the Café Cantina.
Any daring fans who are brave enough to embrace the heat can take part in an in-game jalapeño eating contest. The first contestant to see smoke come out of their ears will be the winner!
Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center will join forces with the Potomac Nationals to Strike Out Stroke. Sentara nurses and staff will be on hand to raise awareness and provide education about strokes, as well as provide some fun, baseball-themed Sentara giveaways! Reminder announcements will be broadcast through the PA system to help attendees identify the signs of stroke. The Potomac Nationals remind fans, act F-A-S-T!
Super Saturday will conclude with the Best Fireworks in Northern Virginia thanks to WTOP.
After the fireworks display, kids will have a chance to run the bases courtesy of Glory Days Grill. Kids will start their run at the first base gate and meet their parents waiting for them at the third base gate.
The P-Nats invite their faithful to fan the flames of entertainment with the Nationals at The Pfitz for another memorable Super Saturday Night!
ABOUT FLYING DOG
Flying Dog Brewery came from an adventure on the "Savage Mountain," K2, the second highest mountain the world. After an 8,000-mile journey from Woody Creek, CO, George Stranahan set off for the summit of K2. When their "biggest threat" in the climb proved to be running out of alcohol on day 17 of a 35-day trip, the ideas began to come about, especially when George saw a painting in the Muslim Nation of Pakistan. The picture featured a dog, which had basically left the ground. The combination of "dog" and "flying" stuck with George, and it eventually resulted in Flying Dog Brewpub in Aspen, CO in 1990. Eventually the brewery made its way to Frederick, MD, where Flying Dog continues to make sense.
