Streak Ends at 13 In Extra-Inning Loss

DUNEDIN, FL – The Clearwater Threshers (21-7) took a lead into the bottom of the tenth but ended their win streak at thirteen games in a 6-5 loss to the Dunedin Blue Jays (16-12) on Tuesday night at TD Ballpark. Clearwater looks to begin a new streak in a Wednesday morning game against the Blue Jays in Dunedin.
The Blue Jays’ first three batters of the third inning singled, with the first run coming from Manuel Beltre on a base hit to give the Blue Jays the first lead of the game at 1-0. Clearwater came back in the top of the fourth, beginning with a one-out single by Jordan Dissin. He advanced to second on a wild pitch by Rafael Ohashi before Bryan Rincon hit a no-doubter to right to give the Threshers a 2-1 lead.
Dunedin retook the lead in the fifth on an errant throw and a two-out RBI single by Tucker Toman that made it 3-2 in the fifth. After Rincon was hit by a pitch from Blue Jays reliever Ryan Chasse, he stole second base before Cade Fergus knocked him in with a game-tying single to center to even the score at three runs apiece.
Ryan McCarty doubled to right field to give the lead back to the Blue Jays at 4-3. Gabriel Rincones Jr. Tied up the game with a solo home run to right-center field that made it even at four in the eight. The Threshers stranded the go-ahead run and the Blue Jays were retired in order in the ninth to send the game into extra innings.
Emaarion Boyd led off the ninth for Clearwater with a bunt single that moved extra runner Ricardo Rosario to third. Tucker Toman tried to make the play at first but an errant throw allowed Rosario to score and put the Threshers ahead 5-4. Manuel Beltre tied the game on the first pitch of the bottom of the tenth and with two outs in the frame and the bases loaded, a wild pitch allowed the winning run to score from third in a 6-5 loss.
Samuel Aldegheri went 5.0 innings with three runs allowed on seven hits, three walks, and five strikeouts in a no-decision. Wen-Hui Pan allowed one run on two hits with one walk. Jack Dallas (2-1) took the loss in 1.2 innings, allowing two unearned runs on two hits with one walk and two strikeouts.
Clearwater drops to 2-1 in extra innings... Each of the Threshers last two losses were walkoffs... It is the fifth-straight game that has ended in walkoff fashion for Clearwater...
