Visalia, CA – The Visalia Rawhide used a four-run third inning to end Rancho Cucamonga’s five-game winning streak, as they beat the Quakes on Saturday night by a final of 4-2 at Valley Strong Ballpark.

The two clubs combined for just nine hits, as Visalia outhit Rancho 5-4, in earning their first win of the series, which sets up a rubber-game on Sunday night.

The Quakes got the game’s first run off starter Yilber Diaz, as Kenneth Betancourt’s RBI single scored Yeiner Fernandez to make it 1-0 in the second.

The Rawhide didn’t get anything going against Rancho starter River Ryan over the first two innings, but four runs in the third put them ahead to stay. Alvin Guzman’s two-run double highlighted the inning, as the Rawhide took a 4-2 lead over Ryan (1-3).

Diaz (4-2) was solid over six innings, allowing just the one run on three hits to net the win.

The Quakes’ only other run came in the eighth, as Jake Vogel’s RBI groundout made it 4-2. That’s as close as Rancho would get, as Carlos Meza stranded two in the ninth to earn his first save.

The Quakes (12-11, 48-41) look for a series-win on Sunday at 6pm, sending Peter Heubeck (0-0) to the mound against left-hander Liam Norris (0-6).

The Quakes will eventually return to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, August 2, as they host the Inland Empire 66ers in a six-game set. Tuesday, August 2 will be a Healthy RC Recycle Tuesday. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at LoanMart Field...Go Quakes!
