June 26, 2017

Rome got an early lead in the first on Austin Bush's run scoring double.

Rome got an early lead in the first on Austin Bush's run scoring double.

The Braves crossed the plate three times in the third inning thanks to an RBI double by Marcus Mooney and RBI singles by Justin Ellison and Lucas Herbert extending the lead to 4-0. Charleston made it a 4-1 game in the sixth on Angel Aguillar's sacrifice fly RBI. The story of the game was Rome's pitching as starter Ian Anderson went four scoreless innings allowing three hits and striking out six. The bullpen was just as good as Bladimir Matos allowed one run on one hit in two innings and Joe Rogers went three shutout innings striking out three en route to the 4-1 victory. Brandon S. White came in to pitch a three up and three down ninth inning.
Matos (2-2) gets the win for the Braves while Nick Green (4-5) is hit with the loss. White (9) earns the save.
The Braves and RiverDogs face off again tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
