TAMPA, Fla. - For the second-straight game, Daytona erased a deficit heading into the ninth inning. RF Andy Sugilio 's go-ahead single in the 10th proved to be the difference, as the Tortugas flayed the Tampa Tarpons, 5-4, on Sunday afternoon at George M. Steinbrenner Field.

Trailing 4-3 going to the ninth, 2B Randy Ventura (0-4, R, RBI, BB, 2 SO) drew a leadoff walk and moved to third on a pair of ground outs. With two down, CF Stuart Fairchild (1-4, RBI) hit a ground ball in the hole at short. The ball was not fielded cleanly and everyone was safe. Ventura scored from third on the miscue to tie the game at four.
Following a scoreless bottom half of the ninth, Daytona (23-19) jumped in front in the 10th. With the automatic runner at second and one out, Sugilio (3-5, RBI, SO) laced a liner into left-center. 1B Bruce Yari (1-4, R, BB, SO) came around to score the go-ahead tally on the 22-year-old's single, putting the Tortugas ahead, 5-4.
That was more than enough for RHP Ryan Nutof (2.1 IP, H, 5 SO) to shut the door. The University of Michigan alum got a ground out to short and struck out a pair of hitters in the 10th to strand the tying run at third and seal the sweep.
SS José Garcia (1-4, R, HR, RBI, BB) helped the Tortugas grab an early edge, as he whacked the first pitch of the game over the left-field fence for a solo home run - his second of the year. Daytona then put another on the board in the second on a run-producing fielder's choice off the bat of Ventura.
After Tampa (17-25) pulled a within one in the third courtesy of an RBI double from 2B Oswaldo Cabrera (2-5, 2B, RBI, 2 SO), the 'Tugas added insurance in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Fairchild.
Ahead 3-1 going to the bottom of the eighth, Tampa took their first lead of the day. LF Tyler Hill (1-4, R, HR, RBI, SO) smashed a solo home run - his third - to begin the frame. C Donny Sands (2-4, 2 RBI) then enabled the Tarpons to collect their first lead with a two-run single later in the inning.
Nutof (2.1 IP, H, 5 SO) suffered his first blown save of the year but punched out five to collect his first win. Tampa's LHP Dalton Lehnen (3.2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 BB) did not give up an earned run, yet suffered his third defeat of 2019.
RHP Ryan Lillie (7.2 IP, 9 H, 4 R, 2 ER, BB, 3 SO) was stupendous in a no-decision for the Tortugas. The 23-year-old lasted 7.2 innings, the longest performance by any Daytona starter this year. RHP Shawn Semple (6.1 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 5 SO) yielded three tallies for the Tarpons in 6.1 frames, receiving a no-decision, too.
Daytona returns home to open up a four-game, three-day series against the Clearwater Threshers, High-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, starting with a doubleheader on Monday night. LHP Packy Naughton (4-2, 2.38 ERA) is expected to get the ball for the 'Tugas in game one, while the team has not yet announced a starter for game two. Clearwater has not released their projected starters for either of tomorrow's games.
