TOLEDO, OHIO - Rehabbing Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Jameson Taillon struck out nine batters over six innings, but he allowed five runs as the Indianapolis Indians fell to the Toledo Mud Hens on Wednesday evening, 5-1.

Taillon (0-1) threw 97 pitches, the most in his three rehab starts. He only issued two walks and 67 of his pitches were for strikes.
Toledo (26-31) jumped on top with a run in the first inning. JaCoby Jones doubled to left-center field with one out. James McCann, on a rehab assignment from the Detroit Tigers, then lined a single to left field to plate Jones.
The Hens then scored two more runs in the bottom of the third inning. Taillon retired the first two batters, but McCann extended the inning with a single. After a walk to Efren Navarro, Michael Almanzar hit a single off of Gift Ngoepe's glove to advance McCann home. Navarro would score on a single by Jason Krizan.
McCann and the Mud Hens would strike again in the fourth inning. Steven Moya and Brendan Ryan led off the frame with singles, but Taillon struck out two batters in a row. With the Indians almost out of the jam, McCann sliced a single to right-center field to score Moya and Ryan, and it gave Toledo the 5-0 lead.
Indianapolis (32-26) scored the Tribe's only run in the top of the sixth. Austin Meadows led off with a walk, and he would score later in the inning on Joey Terdoslavich's sacrifice fly. Danny Ortiz collected the only two Indy hits, a single in the third inning and a double in the eighth.
Taillon (0-1) was handed the loss. Cody Dickson and Edgar Santana each recorded a scoreless inning out of the bullpen.
Matt Crouse (1-1) walked five batters but held the Tribe to just one run. He earned the win in his second start with the Hens.
The Indians will go for the series split on Thursday night against Toledo. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Drew Hutchison (2-1, 4.04) will get the start for the Tribe.
