With Thaiss' big night at the plate to lead the way, the BayBears tallied eight runs on 11 hits and drew six walks. All eight of Mobile's runs came in the first four innings. After a four-run first inning knocked Mississippi starter Wes Parsons (0-1) out of the game, the BayBears added a run in the second and three more in the fourth.
Jose Suarez (1-0) earned the win in his second Double-A start. He gave up one run on seven hits in five innings pitched. The Braves (8-11) scored two runs against Samil De Los Santos in the sixth and Austin Riley hit his fourth home run of the season Jake Jewell 's first pitch in the seventh. However, Jewell did not allow another run for the next two innings and Ryan Clark tossed a scoreless ninth, working out of a bases-loaded jam.
