The Sacramento River Cats pulled out a 12-10 victory over the Albuquerque Isotopes after initially being behind 0-6 in the second inning. Tonight marked the first game this season that all nine River Cats batters have hit safely.

After a near perfect inning from both sides in the first, things took a drastic turn for the worse for the Kitties.

Starter Carson Seymour saw eight batters in second inning, allowing a two-run single to Cole Carrigg, followed by an RBI single to Drew Avans, and finally a two-run shot to Adael Amador before being replaced by reliever Trent Harris who walked Charlie Condon before Vimael Machín grounded out to end the inning. It marked Seymour’s shortest outing since August 26, 2023 with Double-A Richmond when he also pitched just 1.2 innings.

The Isotopes sent 11 batters to the plate in the second inning to go up 6-0. At the bottom of the second, Buddy Kennedy knocked the Cats’ fourth triple of the year and was batted in by Victor Bericoto, who reached on a field error.

Harris allowed two walks at the top of the third but ultimately escaped without allowing any runs. Things took a complete 180 for the Cats as Jesús Rodríguez – who turned 24 today – singled to bat in Turner Hill. Rodríguez has reached base safely every year on his birthday.

Next, Grant McCray hit a 394-foot knock with the bases loaded that was ultimately reduced to just a single. Bericoto had a two-run single to give the Cats hope with just a one-run deficit, followed by a hit from Thomas Gavello – who ended his 0-for-11 streak – to load the bases once again.

Then, for his first longball of the season, Osleivis Basabe hit a 393-foot grand slam to put the Kitties ahead 9-6. It was Sacramento’s first grand slam since Logan Porter hit one August 5, 2025 vs. Sugarland. The River Cats sent 11 men to the plate in a single inning for the third time this season (also, April 1 and 15). Sac scored eight total runs in the third, their most runs scored in a single frame this season.

After a quiet fourth inning, Chad Stevens recorded an RBI single followed by Zac Veen’s two-run homer, his second in as many nights, tying the game 9-9 in the fifth. It was his first time homering in back-to-back games since May 8-9, 2024 with the Double-A Hartford Yard Goats.

Another quiet inning in the sixth and top of the seventh before Osleivis Basabe had his second knock of the evening; a two-run, ground-rule double to give him six total RBIs on the night. It was the first six-plus RBI game by a River Cat since Basabe’s eight RBI game on September 18, 2025 when he recorded a grand slam, two-run single and two-run double.

Turner hill followed with an RBI single putting the Cats up 12-9.

At the top of the eighth, Cole Carrigg was ejected by first base umpire Joe Belangia after being called out on a hairbreadth escape and slamming his helmet down. This mirrored an ejection he had August 31st of last season in Double-A in which he was called out on an attempted steal of third base, slamming his helmet down then arguing with the umpire between innings. He was suspended following that 2025 ejection.

The Topes scored once more at the top of the ninth on a Machín RBI single, but it wasn’t enough as the Cats pulled out the 12-10 victory in a game that took three hours and three minutes.
