DAYTONA BEACH, FL - They say that behind every great man is a great woman. Well, that's no different in the world of Tortugas. The Daytona Tortugas announced a second mascot for the 2018 season on Friday afternoon, named Shelly, presented by Chanfrau & Chanfrau.
Shelly is the latest addition to Radiology Associates Field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark, in attempt to continue to increase the fan experience. Between Shelldon and Shelly, no fan will leave unpleased or unattended to. Not to mention the fun dynamic between the two reptiles.
"We are so happy to be the sponsor of Shelly and feel she is a great addition to our community and the Daytona Tortugas," said Kelly Chanfrau. "Chanfrau & Chanfrau is proud of the opportunity to encourage participation, teamwork, and sports, and we are excited to help introduce our team's new mascot!"
Shelly will not only preach inclusion in the sports world to the Tortuga faithful, but also allow the Tortugas to have a greater presence in the community and continue to improve their footprint in Central Florida.
Shelly isn't the only aspect of the Daytona Tortugas partnership with Chanfrau & Chanfrau, who will also be sponsoring the Field of Dreams program. Field of Dreams allows different local Little League teams the opportunity to live out a childhood dream and take the field with the Daytona Tortugas prior to the first pitch.
"Chanfrau & Chanfrau is thrilled to be working with the Daytona Tortugas again. The opportunity to highlight and support Little League players through the "Field of Dreams" program is important to us and the community overall," said Bill Chanfrau Jr. "We are looking forward to a great season!"
Shelly will be introduced during the Tortugas next home game on Friday, May 4th, against the Lakeland Flying Tigers. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM for Star Wars Night with fireworks to follow the final out. To purchase your tickets, or to book Shelly for your next event, call the Tortugas at (386) 257-3172 or visit daytonatortugas.com.
