KEIZER, Ore. -- The Volcanoes completed a 3-game sweep of the Boise Hawks with a 4 to 3 victory on Friday night. The Volcanoes outscored the Hawks 30-11 over the 3 games with a season high 14 runs scored Thursday night. The Volcanoes racked up 10 hits on the night

KEIZER, Ore. -- The Volcanoes completed a 3-game sweep of the Boise Hawks with a 4 to 3 victory on Friday night. The Volcanoes outscored the Hawks 30-11 over the 3 games with a season high 14 runs scored Thursday night.
The Volcanoes racked up 10 hits on the night in part to centerfielder Bryce Johnson, right fielder Juan Rodriguez, and third baseman Kevin Rivera all contributing with 2 hits each. Shortstop Manuel Geraldo came through for the Volcanoes in the 3rd inning with a 2-run single to add to the scoring. After Boise scored a run in the top of the 4th to knot the score at 3 to 3, the Volcanoes capitalized on a throwing error which brought Rivera around 3rd to score in the 7th inning, pushing the Volcanoes in front 4-3.
Greg Jacknewitz had a solid day on the hill going 4.2 innings, allowing 2 earned runs, 1 walk, and 3 strikeouts. Tyler Schimpf came in to replace Jacknewitz and posted a solid 1.1 innings of relief with 2 strikeouts. Logan Webb came in for the last 3 innings and despite being a little shaky with 6 hits surrendered, Webb was able to strikeout 4 batters and helped the Volcanoes sweep the series, the first series sweep of 2017 for Salem-Keizer.
The Volcanoes stay home tomorrow, August 19, with first pitch slated for 6:35 p.m. as the Hillsboro Hops come into town for a 4-game series culminating with the Eclipse Game on Monday, August 21.
