The International League today announced that Buffalo Bisons LHP THOMAS PANNONE has been named the league's Pitcher of the Week.
Pannone was 2-0 for the Herd this week, with a 1.64 ERA and 14 strikeouts to only eight hits allowed in 11.0 innings of work. He was the only pitcher in the league to pick up a pair of wins during the week.
Pannone first worked on June 24 in Pawtucket, picking up his first career Triple-A win in a game played roughly 20 minutes from where he grew up in Cranston, RI. In that contest, he allowed just one run in five innings with five strikeouts in Buffalo's 10-6 win over the PawSox. Then on Saturday, Pannone struck out a Bisons' season-high nine batters in Buffalo's 9-3 win over Syracuse. Again, the southpaw allowed just one run, this time on three hits over six innings of work.
Pannone, 25, is in his seventh season pitching professionally. Since the beginning of 2018, he has made 35 appearances for the Blue Jays, posting a 6-4 record and a 4.96 ERA.
