KINSTON, N.C. (May 7, 2018) - Keegan Thompson fired six brilliant innings and Bailey Clark finished the game with three scoreless frames of his own Monday to lead the Myrtle Beach Pelicans to a 3-0 win over the Down East Wood Ducks from Grainger Stadium.
Thompson (1-2) earned his first win of the season by holding the Wood Ducks (15-16) to just four hits over his six innings. The right-hander struck out four and walked just two. Clark earned his first save for the Pelicans (13-18) by yielding just two hits over three shutout innings.

The Birds struck first in the top of the third inning. After Austin Upshaw doubled, Daniel Spingola singled him home to make it 1-0.
In the third, Aramis Ademan bashed a two-bagger and reached third on an Andruw Monasterio sacrifice bunt. Vimael Machin then ladled a sacrifice fly into left field to plate Ademan and give the Pelicans a 2-0 lead.
Following another Upshaw double in the fourth, Spingola knocked him in again with an RBI double of his own.
Emerson Martinez (2-3) threw seven innings and allowed three runs in the loss.
The Pelicans will send RHP Tyson Miller (3-2, 2.33 ERA) against the Wood Ducks' RHP Edgar Arredondo (2-1, 4.01 ERA) in Tuesday's 7 p.m. contest. Coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. on MyrtleBeachPelicans.com/Broadcast, TuneIn and the MiLB First Pitch app.
