Three Rainiers Go Deep, Tacoma Takes Series Finale against Salt Lake

Tacoma, WA - Tim Lopes teased a cycle, finishing a triple short but providing four RBI, and a seventh inning three-run home run from Chris Mariscal helped the Tacoma Rainiers overcome a late four-run deficit on Wednesday, besting the Salt Lake Bees in Cheney Stadium's annual July 3rd contest, 13-10.
After Salt Lake (38-47) scored 10 unanswered runs to build a 10-6 lead, four consecutive Rainiers (41-45) reached base safely to start the seventh, including an RBI single from left fielder Kristopher Negrón that scored Lopes and a run-scoring hit from first baseman Ryan court, narrowing the gap, 10-8.
Salt Lake subbed out Adrian De Horta for Zac Ryan (1-1) with one out in the inning, who fell behind Mariscal, 2-0, before the third baseman uncorked his three-run blast into the left field deck for an 11-10 advantage.

An inning later, Brugman drove a two-run homer over the leaping right fielder for a pair of insurance runs.
Ryan Garton walked a batter but struck out a pair in a scoreless ninth, earning his first save in four tries this season.
Tacoma locked up the first run of the game when Lopes launched a home run to left-center field that scored Ian Miller in the home half of the first. Lopes went 4-for-5 with four RBI and three runs, which also included a fifth inning single that scored Kelby Tomlinson and Miller, putting the Rainiers ahead, 6-0.
Southpaw Jon Niese made the start for the Rainiers and went five frames of scoreless baseball before allowing all six hitters he faced to reach in the sixth and getting replaced by right-hander Aaron Northcraft. Niese was charged with the first six runs of Salt Lake's seven-run inning, while Northcraft was tagged with the go-ahead run and a blown save.
Right-hander Scott Boches (1-0) allowed three runs in the seventh in his Triple-A debut, but was credited with the win as Tacoma scored the game's final seven tallies. Boches was transferred from Advanced-A Modesto before Wednesday's game when infielder Shed Long hit the 7-day Injured List.
The Rainiers will hit the road to play the Fresno Grizzlies, Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, for a three-day, four-game series before the All-Star break. First pitch will be at 6:35 p.m. PDT on Thursday as Andrew Moore (0-0, 13.50) makes the start for Tacoma at Chukchansi Park.
