Three Yard Goats Homer in Second Straight Win

Hartford, CT - Bryant Betancourt, Aidan Longwell and Roc Riggio all homered as the Hartford Yard Goats defeated the Reading Fightin Phils 6-2 on Wednesday night at Dunkin’ Park. Betancourt’s three-run homer came in the third and gave the Yard Goats a 3-1 lead. Longwell’s two-run homer came in the fifth and made the score 5-1. Riggio’s solo blast came in the seventh and made it a 6-2 ballgame. Yard Goats starter Konner Eaton recorded a season-high seven strikeouts and allowed just one run over four innings. Yard Goats reliever Sam Weatherly pitched a scoreless ninth to secure back-to-back victories for Hartford.

The Fightin Phils scored first in the top of the third, when Austin Murr scored on a bases loaded walk from Yard Goats starter Konner Eaton, giving Reading a 1-0 lead.

The Yard Goats got on the board in the bottom of the fourth when Betancourt cranked a three-run home run off Reading starter Kyle Brnovich. The home run which landed in the second deck in right field was Betancourt’s fifth of the season and gave Hartford a 3-1 lead.

Hartford added a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth when Longwell smashed a two-run home run extending the Yard Goats lead to 5-1. The homer was Longwell’s second of the season, both of which have come at Dunkin’ Park.

Reading scored a run in the top of the seventh when Murr scored on an RBI-single from Bryan Rincon, making the score 5-2.

Riggio crushed his third home run of the season to left field in the bottom of the seventh, making it a 6-2 ballgame.
