FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The TinCaps debuted brand new home uniforms in style on Tuesday night at Parkview Field, beating the Beloit Snappers (Oakland A's), 7-2, in their homestand opener.

Starting pitcher Mason Thompson blanked Beloit (9-10) for six innings. It was the longest start yet for the 20-year-old pitcher as a pro. He limited the Snappers to two hits as he walked three batters and struck out three.
Meanwhile, Thompson received plenty of run support early. Fort Wayne (11-14) scored four runs in the first and two in the second to lead 6-0. First baseman Carlos Belen opened the scoring with a two-run single. Later in the first, designated hitter Luis Campusano crushed a two-run homer to left-center field. In the second, second baseman Esteury Ruiz powered a two-run homer to left.
The TinCaps increased their lead to 7-0 in the seventh with a two-out RBI single from shortstop Gabriel Arias . Beloit's only runs came with two outs in the ninth.
After Thompson, former Fort Wayne Mastodons pitcher Evan Miller worked two perfect innings of relief.
For the first time since rebranding from the Wizards to the TinCaps when moving into Parkview Field in 2009, the team team has changed the style of its home uniforms and wore them for the first time on Tuesday. The white jerseys are similar but no longer feature pinstripes and the green numbers are in a more readable font. Also, the team's hats still have a green bill and back, as well as the apple logo in the center, but now a white front.
