LANSING, Mich. - The Fort Wayne TinCaps (14-23) scored four runs in both the third and fourth innings, running away with a 10-2 series-opening victory over the Lansing Lugnuts (19-15) on Monday night at Cooley Law School Stadium.

The Lugnuts remained at 1,499 wins in franchise history.

Lansing had tied the score at 1-1 in the second inning on Bradley Jones 's team-leading seventh home run - only to see the TinCaps emphatically respond.

Nuts starter Mike Ellenbest (Loss, 1-3) allowed five runs on seven hits in three innings. He was followed to the mound by Tayler Saucedo , who also gave up five runs (four earned) on seven hits in three innings.

On the other side, the Lugnuts' offense was largely stymied by Fort Wayne starter Jerry Keel(Win, 2-2), who limited the Nuts to two runs on six hits and two walks in seven innings, striking out six.

The lone Lugnuts' bright spot on offense came from shortstop Bo Bichette , who walked, singled and tripled in four plate appearances, raising his league-leading batting average to .375.

Hudson Potts, the 24th overall selection in the 2016 draft, led the TinCaps with four hits in five at-bats. Fort Wayne leadoff man Fernando Tatis, Jr. was 3-for-5 with three runs scored, and Jorge Oña added a 2-for-4, 3-RBI night with a two-run homer.
