Hartford, Conn. - The Hartford Yard Goats (29-22) scored three runs in the third inning and held on for a 4-2 win over the Portland Sea Dogs (16-33) on Tuesday night at Dunkin' Donuts Park.

Yard Goats RHP Rico Garcia (W, 6-1) worked five innings on two runs and seven strikeouts to earn the win. Hartford's staff fanned 17 batters en route to their seventh win of the season over Portland.
Trailing 3-0 in the fourth inning, Josh Tobias provided Portland's offense with a towering two-run homer into the right-field seats. 
Portland lefty Darwinzon Hernandez (L, 1-4) took the loss, lasting only 2.2 innings on three hits, three runs (two earned) on three walks, and four strikeouts. Daniel McGrath worked 4.1 innings of relief, allowing an inside-the-park homer to Alex Trejo.
Tyler Nevin knocked in the first two runs with a single and Colton Welker drove home a run with a single during a three-run third.
Tate Matheny added two hits and has hit safely in 13 of his last 15 games. Brian Ellington fanned the side during his one inning of work.
