(EASTLAKE, OH) – The Lake County Captains (45-39) won their fourth straight game downing the Dayton Dragons 4-2 on a beautiful Friday night at Classic Park.
Jaime Arias made his first home start of the season and matched a season-high four innings, all scoreless. The left-hander had four strikeouts through the first three innings and, worked around two singles in the fourth getting a flyout to right-field.
The Captains gave him run support. Milan Tolentino led off the first inning with a double. He would come around to score after Alexfri Planez hit a groundball at the third baseman Tyler Callihan who threw it over too high for JV Martinez to catch.
Lake County added two more in the second. Korey Holland roped a two-out double down the left field line to score Aaron Bracho who reached via a walk. Holland was plated by Milan Tolentino’s second hit, an RBI single.
After two scoreless innings from Dayton’s starter Evan Kravetz, Alexfri Planez stepped up with two outs. Planez planted a ball over the left field bleachers, his eleventh homer in 2022, to make it 4-0.
Dayton would cut the lead in half, in the sixth. After a scoreless fifth worked by Braunny Munoz, Dayton pushed him out of the game. Mat Nelson walked and then Ruben Ibarra doubled, to put two runners on. Following a strikeout, the Dragons plated two, after a wild pitch Nelson scored and Ibarra came across following a single from JV Martinez.
Alaska Abney entered and finished the inning with a strikeout. Despite allowing a hit by pitch and a walk, in the eighth, the right-hand submariner didn’t permit a run. Zach Hart got the final two innings and his third save of the season.
Game four of the series is tomorrow Saturday, July 16th. The first 1000 fans in attendance will receive a Triston McKenzie bobblehead. First pitch is at 7:00 p.m., gates will open at 6:00 p.m.
