DAYTONA BEACH, FL - The Daytona Tortugas are pleased to announce the hiring of Scot Masters as Food & Beverage Manager. Over the first two months of the season, the Tortugas have welcomed over 55,000 fans, with attendance up nearly 30% versus the 2016 season.
As the Tortugas continue to excel in strong promotions and family entertainment, the food and beverage operation is the next target to improve the overall fan experience at The Jack. We've appreciated all the fan input on our concessions and are ready to positively step-change our offer. Under Scot's leadership, the Tortugas will look to revamp the food offerings at Jackie Robinson Ballpark and increase the speed of service. Ryan Keur, President of the Tortugas, stated that "the feedback our fans provide each and every night is invaluable to us and this was something that needed to happen immediately."
Scot comes to the Tortugas as a very qualified culinary professional, having spent over 20 years in the industry. He has spent time as the Executive Chef at the Regency Plaza in San Diego and the Hotel Mar Monte in Santa Barbara. Additionally, he created the Hospitality Department, University Glen Hospitality Services at the California Channel Islands. Scot mentioned that he "can not wait to serve the best fans in all of baseball, enhance the food and beverage experience, and build unique new menu items that will become a cornerstone at Jackie Robinson Ballpark." Scot most recently had been consulting in the Health Services Sector and providing food safety training nationally.
"Bringing in someone with Scot's pedigree is going to be a boon to our overall fan experience. Not only will he help our overall operational efficiency, resulting in shorter lines, but his work on our menu will result in a food offer that will finally be another great, stand-alone reason to enjoy a night out at The Jack," said Co-owner Bob Fregolle. "Constructive fan feedback continues to play an integral part of our success in Daytona, helping us recognize what is working, but also what opportunities exist to improve. Our work on food and beverage is a great example of us working hard to listen to our bosses - the fans! Please keep the feedback coming by writing to us at [email protected]!"
The Tortugas return to town on Saturday, June 3rd to start an eight game homestand that is sure to provide many great memories at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. The Tortugas are currently 1.5 games out of first place and will look to advance to the playoffs by winning the first-half of the season. Come on out and root for the team as they drive to secure that playoff berth!
