WINSTON-SALEM- The Asheville Tourists blew another big lead on Friday and lost 10-9 in 11 innings to the Winston-Salem Dash. Asheville led 7-1 going into the eighth inning and for the sixth time this season they were on the wrong side of the final score when leading a game by at least six runs.

From the sixth inning through the final walk off hit by Winston-Salem, the Tourists committed four costly errors, threw five wild pitches, walked four, and hit a batter. Even after Asheville scored two runs in the top of the tenth and were one strike away from a win in the bottom of the tenth, they allowed the Dash to rally to tie the game.

Jose Alvarez hit a three-run triple as part of a five-run fourth inning for the Tourists. Joey Loperfido had a pair of RBI hits and Tim Borden hit an RBI single in the fifth inning that allowed Asheville to build their lead.

Ray Gaither started and pitched four innings. Gaither limited the Dash to one run. Cole McDonald worked a scoreless fifth before turning over the ball to Heitor Tokar. Even though the game slipped away with Tokar on the mound, he had very little help behind him. Asheville committed all four of their errors while Tokar was pitching.

The Dash scored twice in the eighth and scored four in the bottom of the ninth. Entering tonight Asheville was 41-1 when leading after eight innings.
