ROME- State Mutual Stadium in Rome, Georgia has not been kind to the Asheville Tourists this year. Fortunately, the Tourists will not have to come back to the Braves' home stadium again this regular season and Asheville will leave town with a 4-1 victory.
It was not the prettiest game ever played but the Tourists used excellent pitching performances from Garrett Schilling , Robert Tyler , and Tommy Doyle to quiet a red-hot Braves offense. Schilling did not factor in the decision despite tossing 6.1 innings and limiting the Braves to only one unearned run.

The Tourists took a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth. Bret Boswell led off with a single and after Matt McLaughlin bunted him over to second, Casey Golden drove him in with an RBI single. Rome tied the score on a Drew Lugbauer RBI single in the seventh.
Tyler came in with the game tied and worked out of the seventh inning. Both teams went scoreless in the eighth and then Asheville took advantage of some sloppy defense in the ninth. With two outs and the bases empty Austin Bernard reached on catcher's interference. Brett Stephens was hit by a pitch and Boswell drew a walk.
McLaughlin then hit a fly ball to right field that was dropped by Isranel Wilson. All three runners came in to score. Doyle shut the door in the ninth for his sixth save of the season. Rome finished with six errors in the game.
The win snaps Asheville's five-game losing skid and provides a little momentum heading into Greenville. The Tourists and the Drive face off on Friday night at 7:05pm.
