GREENSBORO- The Asheville Tourists were tested by the Greensboro Grasshoppers on Saturday night and the Tourists showed a lot of toughness despite falling by a final score of 14-10. Asheville had to play pretty much the entire game from well behind, but they continued to rally and keep the game interesting.

Greensboro built a 5-1 lead after the first inning. The Grasshoppers hit two Home Runs in the bottom of the first, including a Grand Slam. The home team added another run in the second to take a 6-1 lead.

Quincy Hamilton hit a two-run Home Run for Asheville in the top of the fourth and Colin Barber appeared to deliver a solo Home Run on the very next pitch; however, Barber’s drive was inaccurately ruled a foul ball. Greensboro then plated the game’s next three runs to take a 9-3 lead.

In the top of the fifth, Luis Guerrero drove in a pair with his triple to left field. Luis Santana promptly plated Guerrero with a Sacrifice Fly and the Tourists were back to within three. The very next inning, Kenedy Corona launched a two-run Home Run to left-center to pull the Tourists to within one at 9-8.

Once again, the Grasshoppers pushed their lead back out. Greensboro scored four in the sixth and one more in the seventh. Asheville trailed by six late but they had one last rally left. Santana and Deury Carrasco both clubbed RBI doubles in the ninth.

The Tourists are 1-10 this season in Saturday games; however, they can win the series outright with a victory on Sunday afternoon.
