ASHEVILLE- The Asheville Tourists made a big move on Wednesday night when they swept a double-header from the Bowling Green Hot Rods. Asheville gained two full games on the Hot Rods and picked up a game-and-a-half on the Rome Braves. The Tourists took Game One 3-2 and held on to win Game Two 3-1.

In the first contest, Kenedy Corona hit leadoff Home Run in the bottom of the first inning to make up for a run the Hot Rods plated in the top of the first. Corona doubled and scored on a Zach Daniels RBI single in the third to give the Tourists a 2-1 lead. Luis Guerrero came in to score in the fourth inning on a Fielder’s Choice.

Diosmerky Taveras started and pitched 4.1 innings. Cole McDonald earned the win with four strikeouts over 1.1 innings and Kasey Ford notched the save by recording the final four outs of the game.

In Game Two, the Tourists took a 2-0 lead on a two-out, two-run single by Jose Alvarez in the second inning. Bowling Green pushed a run across in the third and Asheville held their one-run lead thanks to some excellent defensive plays and pitching by Colton Gordon.

Joey Loperfido provided some key insurance with an RBI single in the sixth and Jacob DeLabio finished out the contest for his first save. Gordon earned the win with 5.2 innings pitched in his McCormick Field debut.
