Tribe Tops Hops 13-1 in NWL Second-half Opener

One night after clinching the Northwest League South Division first-half championship, the Hops came out a little flat in the finale of their five-game series against the Spokane Indians.
The Tribe won the rubber match of the series and the season series with a 13-1 win at Ron Tonkin Field.

19-year old Venezuelan shortstop Yonny Hernandez hit his first professional home run, reaching base five times on the night with four runs scored and three runs batted in. Tyler Phillips struck out eight Hops over five innings, allowing four hits and one run to earn the win.
Tyler Keele, who took a perfect game into the fifth and a no-hitter into the sixth just two weeks ago at Spokane, gave up six runs on six hits with seven strikeouts and a walk over four innings in the loss
Hillsboro's only run came in the first inning when Ryan Grotjohn doubled and scored on a Camden Duzenack fielder's choice.
The Hops, who rested several regulars, saw three players make their Hillsboro debuts as second baseman Ryan Tufts, center fielder Jorge Perez and relief pitcher Yeison Santana all saw action.
Hillsboro looks for a reset Tuesday night with the first of three games at Boise. Pregame airtime is 5:45 p.m. with the first pitch at 6:15 on Rip City Radio 620 AM.
