Tromp's power has surged over the past couple seasons, which has made him a very intriguing prospect. Tromp put his name on the map in 2016 when he hit a combined 20 home runs between Clearwater and Lakewood. Rather than send Tromp back to the FSL, the Phillies elected to send him to Reading for his first taste of Double-A action. He appeared in 125 games in 2017, which included a brief three-game stint in the Lehigh Valley. A native of Aruba, Tromp batted .285 with 18 home runs and an Eastern League-leading 31 doubles in 2017. Tromp was an Eastern League All-Star and home run derby participant.
Jose Tavares was hit around in his 2.1 innings of work. Tavares did strike out five Braves but allowed four hits and five earned runs in his time on the mound.
A fifth-round pick out of Oregon in 2016, Irvin skipped over Lakewood and went right to Clearwater for the 2017 season. He was named a FSL all-star and promoted to Double-A just before the Eastern League all-star break. Despite not pitching above Double-A, the Phillies invited Irvin to big league spring training before optioning him to the minor leagues early last week. Irvin is ranked as the 26th overall prospect in the Phillies organization according to MLB Pipeline.
