Tromp's Solid Debut Makes Pigs Great Again

Jiandido Tromp had a solid Triple-A debut as he helped The IronPigs (37-18) scrape by with a 5-3 win over the Louisville Bats (20-34) Saturday night at Louisville Slugger Field in Louisville.

In a 2-2 game with the bases loaded and two outs in the top of the sixth inning, Tromp roped a two-run single to left scoring Jorge Alfaro and Nick Williams to give the Pigs a 4-2 advantage after six.
The Pigs picked up a pair of runs earlier in the inning as Williams plated Cameron Perkins who scored on a throwing error to keep the inning alive. Taylor Featherston then tied the game up with a bases loaded single to left scoring J.P. Crawford.
It was a pitcher's duel through the first three innings as both starting pitchers were dominant the first time through the lineup.
Tromp tried to kick start a Pigs rally in the top of the third inning, as he notched his first career Triple-A hit with a lead off first pitch double off the left field wall. His leadoff double went by the waist side as the next three Pigs were retired, stranding Tromp at third after advancing on a Mark Appel ground out.
Appel was very sharp in his second consecutive outing, as the right-hander tossed six innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits while striking out three.
The Bats scored those two runs off Appel in the bottom of the fourth inning as Jesse Winker singled to right, scoring Hernan Iribarren. On the play Winker dove into second and his knee collided with Crawford's chest knocking the ball free and forced the benches to clear as Perkins took exception to the play. Winker then later came around to score on a wild pitch to give the Bats an early 2-0 lead.
After the Pigs four-run sixth, the Bats edged closer as they scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning as Iribarren doubled home Cedric Hunter who doubled before him.
With the score 4-3 going into the top of the eighth inning, the Pigs scored an insurance run as Dylan Cozens walked with the bases loaded to notch his league-leading 42^nd RBI to give the Pigs a 5-3 advantage.
Pedro Beato then came on to pitch the bottom of the ninth inning. After surrendering a lead off single to Beau Amaral, Beato then induced three-consecutive fly ball outs to secure his league-leading 16^th save and 5-3 Pigs win.  
The series concludes with the rubber match of the three-game series with the Louisville Bats at Louisville Slugger Field Sunday night at 6:05 p.m. Right-hander Jake Thompson (2-5, 5.82) will start for the Pigs, and the Indians will send right-hander Robert Stephenson (0-2, 8.03 with Cincinnati)
