The Elizabethton Twins are the 2017 Regular Season Western Division Champions of the Appalachian League. The Twins clinched the Division Title last night as they defeated the Greeneville Astros 8 to 2 at Pioneer Park.
It's Elizabethton's eleventh trip to the playoffs in the last thirteen years. For Manager Ray Smith it's his 13th first-place finish in the 24 years he has managed the club. Smith's overall record is now 996 wins with 657 losses. The Twins have not had a losing season since 1989. The Twins now await their opponent in the semi finals of the Appalachian League Championship Series. The Greeneville Astros and the Johnson City Cardinals continue to battle for that second playoff spot.
As of today the Twins will hit the road for game one of the Western Division Semi Finals which are scheduled to begin on Saturday September 2.
