SPOKANE, WA – A pair of grand slams from Kendry Chirinos and Carter Cunningham helped power the Canadians to a 14-6 win over the Spokane Indians (COL) on a frigid night at Avista Stadium on Wednesday.

Already in front 1-0 after scoring in the opening inning, the first grand salami was served in the third. Two singles and a walk loaded the bases for Chirinos, who uncorked a line drive the opposite way that carried over the fence for his second homer in as many days to make it 5-0.

Vancouver starter Landen Maroudis kept the Indians off the board until the fourth, when Spokane rallied for two runs then took the lead with a four-spot in the fifth against Gilberto Batista. Carson Pierce (W, 1-0) came on with two outs in the inning and stopped the bleeding to keep the C’s within a run.

The comeback started in the top of the sixth. Consecutive two-out walks and a passed ball put the tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position then Alexis Hernandez tripled for the second time in the game to put Vancouver on top 7-6. Hernandez would race home on a wild pitch to extend the lead to two runs.

A five spot in the seventh put the game away. A trio of free passes loaded the bases then a missed catch error on a line drive allowed a run to score. Up stepped Cunningham, who fell behind 0-2, fouled off a pitch then uncorked his league-best fourth homer on the season to plate another four runs and give him a league-leading 18 RBI while improving his OPS to 1.231, the highest total in the circuit.

Leading 13-6 to start the ninth, the C’s added their final run of the game when Maddox Latta banged one off the right field foul pole for his first professional homer.

Jay Schueler retired the final six batters of the night to lock down the 14-6 triumph.

All nine starters reached base, eight had a hit and five had two knocks. Chirinos and Cunningham plated four runs apiece while Latta and Hernandez drove in two each.

With the win, the Canadians have secured their first road victory of the year to improve to 3-8 while evening the six-game series at one game apiece.

Game three of the road trip is set for tomorrow night at 6:35 p.m. Daniel Guerra looks to lead the C’s to consecutive wins for the first time in 2026 opposite Spokane right-hander Jackson Cox. Catch the action on the Sportsnet 650 alt stream.
