Portland, Maine - The Boston Red Sox have announced that righty Tyler Thornburg will continue his Major League Rehab Assignment on Monday night, as the Portland Sea Dogs open up a three-game series with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays affiliate) at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.

Thornburg is currently on Boston's 10-day disabled list, recovering from thoracic outlet syndrome surgery. The right-hander appeared in three rehab games with the Pawtucket Red Sox from April 30-May 5, allowing one unearned run over 2.2 innings pitched with five strikeouts. His last outing was Saturday against Scranton at McCoy Stadium.

The Boston Red Sox acquired Thornburg from the Milwaukee Brewers on December 6, 2016, in exchange for RHP Josh Pennington, SS Mauricio Dubón, 3B Travis Shaw, and a Player To Be Named Later (INF Yeison Coco).
Thornburg last pitched in a Major League game on October 2, 2016, with the Brewers at Colorado. The Houston, Texas native joins Bobby Poyner and Drew Pomeranz to appear in a Major League Rehab Assignment with Portland. Overall, Thornburg will be the 51st player to rehab in Portland.
Monday night's game can be heard on the U.S. Cellular Sea Dogs Radio Network beginning at 6:20 PM with Mike Antonellis.
