Tickets are still available for all upcoming games - including tonight's doubleheader -- and can be purchased in-person at Coca-Cola Park (Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.), by calling (610) 841-PIGS (7447) or online at ironpigsbaseball.com/tickets. In addition to Velasquez's rehab appearance, 3,000 fans 18 and older attending tonight's game receive a six-pack cooler giveaway courtesy of Coca-Cola. Tonight's promotions also include a post-game fireworks show. All gates open at 4:30 p.m. for today's twin bill.
Velasquez, 25, was 2-5 with a 5.58 ERA in 10 starts for the Phillies prior to sustaining the injury. The Montclair, Calif., native made his first Opening Day roster in 2016 and went 8-2 with a 3.15 ERA in his first 16 starts. In fact, he had a 15-inning scoreless streak to begin his Phillies career, the longest since Marty Bystrom's 19-inning streak in 1980. He also struck out 16 batters during a 3-hit shutout on April 14 vs. San Diego - the third-most punch outs in a single-game in Phillies history. Overall, he was 8-6 with a 4.12 ERA in 24 starts.
Velasquez made his Major League debut with Houston in 2015, going 1-1 with a 4.37 ERA in 19 games and 7 starts. He entered that season ranked as the 4th-best prospect in the Astros organization by Baseball America. He was acquired by the Phillies (alongside
