Viral Rain Delay Jerseys Raise $8,600 For Local Charities

DUNEDIN, FL – The Dunedin Blue Jays, Class-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, raised more than $8,600 for local charities through the team’s viral “Rain Delay Jerseys,” worn during their July 18 game.
Proceeds from the Rain Delay Jerseys, including the game-worn jersey auction and merchandise sales, supported the following organizations:
- Keep Pinellas Beautiful - A nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving and beautifying Pinellas County through community service and education.
- Denis Phillips’ Rule #7 Shop - A charitable initiative from Tampa Bay 28 Chief Meteorologist Denis Phillips that supports local causes including Feeding Tampa Bay and Children’s Miracle Network.
The Rain Delay Jerseys, featuring a weather radar graphic of the Dunedin and Tampa Bay region, were created to honor the chaotic weather of the Florida State League after the Dunedin Blue Jays experienced 24 weather delays, 10 postponements, and six cancellations in 2025. The uniforms captured national attention and were featured by ESPN, FOX, The Weather Channel, and other national media outlets.
