After Tyler Frost singled and Mitch Roman walked against Myrtle Beach (1-5, 22-51) starter Paul Richan (7-3), Walker stepped up to the plate. The star outfielder then crushed a 3-2 pitch onto the concourse in right field for a 417 foot, three-run home run. It was Walker's fifth home run of the season, and the former second-round pick is now 18-for-46 (.391) over his last 11 games.
Myrtle Beach finally struck against Winston-Salem (2-4, 40-30) starter Kade McClure (1-1) in the top of the fourth. After a Miguel Amaya groundout, Luke Reynolds crushed a two-run homer to right field to cut the Dash lead to one run. The two-run homer ended a 20.2 inning scoreless streak for McClure.
The Pelicans claimed the lead in the top of the sixth. With two outs, Reynolds smacked a double into left-center field. The next batter, Cam Balego, belted a two-run homer just over the left field wall to make it 4-3 Pelicans.
In relief of McClure, the Dash received 3.1 innings of scoreless work from Kevin Escorcia and Luis Ledo, but Myrtle Beach's relief duo of Manny Rondon and Ben Hecht combined to pitch four scoreless innings to close out the ballgame.
