Indianapolis, IN --- Ryan Weber worked six scoreless innings and Brandon Lowe socked his fifth home run in four games to lift Durham past Indianapolis 2-1 at Victory Field on Sunday afternoon.
Durham (41-32) closed out a 4-2 road trip and won the series with the Indians (40-33) thanks to Weber (W, 4-3), Andrew Kittredge (S, 2) and Lowe.
Weber lowered his June ERA to 1.30 by working six scoreless innings, scattering five hits and one walk. Kittredge threw 54 pitches over the final three innings to record his second save of the season. In the last of the eighth with Durham holding a 2-1 lead, Kittredge backed up a throw home from right fielder Justin Williams that caromed off of Nick Ciuffo. Kevin Newman, who was held at third as the tying run, broke for the plate as Kittredge located the loose ball and made a diving throw to Ciuffo to catch Newman at home to preserve the lead.
Lowe mashed his fifth home run in Durham's past four games on its road trip, mauling a 3-1 pitch from left-hander Brandon Waddell onto the right field concourse for his career-high 13th home run, and fifth since his promotion to the Bulls.
Durham broke through a scoreless game in the sixth as Jeremy Hazelbaker doubled to start the frame, then scored on a single to right by Kean Wong.
All four of Weber's wins have come in the month of June, surrendering four earned runs over 27 2/3 innings.
The Bulls return home on Monday night at 7:05 PM ET to open a four-game, three-day series against the Charlotte Knights.
