AMARILLO - The Hooks drew level twice but fell Sunday afternoon, 7-5, as the homestanding Sod Poodles completed a five-win week at Hodgetown.

Corpus Christi had split its prior five series before going 1-5 in the Texas Panhandle. It's the Hooks first road series setback since the start of May.

Countering a three-run Amarillo first, Alberto Hernandez, Brandon Forrester, and Chase Call reached to start a second-inning rally. Following Hernandez's walk, Forrester recorded his first Double-A hit.

With the bases full and two away in the inning, Jason Schiavone lined a two-run single into center field. A third run scored on the play as the throw from center skipped past third.

Schiavone, who hit back-to-back, two-homer games to start the week, batted .360 with one double, five home runs, and 11 RBIs in the six-game series. Leading the Astros system with 30 home runs, the 23-year-old from Laytonsville, Maryland has gone deep seven times in his last 11 games.

Walker Janek drew a two-out walk in the fifth ahead of a home run by Tyler Whitaker which tied the game at 5. Whitaker now has nine home runs and ranks second on the club with 49 RBIs.

Call went 2-for-4 on the day and turned in his third outfield assist for Corpus Christi, throwing out a runner tagging for third from right field to end the sixth.

Ben McLaughlin's two-out homer in the fifth off Joey Mancini put Amarillo up for the duration.

Mancini, who retired seven of 10 batters faced, Colby Langford, and Hudson Leach combined to allow two runs over 4 1/3 innings of relief for Corpus Christi.

Leach worked around a two-out hit batsman in a scoreless eighth.
