Turning Point
The RubberDucks (69-70) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning against SeaWolves starter Grayson Long (0-1). Bradley slugged a leadoff, solo homer, his 23rd of the season, to open the scoring. Taylor Murphy added an RBI single, and Daniel Salters chipped in a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 3-0.
Winging It
Ducks starter Matt Whitehouse (8-8) made his final start of 2017 one to remember. The lefty worked six innings, scattering five hits, and holding Erie scoreless. He walked only one and struck out five. A reliever to start the season, Whitehouse entered the Akron starting rotation on May 7th, and ended up making 19 starts for the Ducks. Right-hander Mitch Brown followed Whitehouse and allowed three runs in the eighth, but Robbie Aviles came on to register a key strikeout of Steven Moya to end the threat. Aviles stayed on for the ninth and retired the Wolves without incident to earn his 3rd save.
Duck Tales
Bradley's home run to right was his 23rd of the season and raised his team-leading RBI total to 89. Mendoza belted a long, three-run homer to right field in the fourth to extend Akron's lead to 6-0. It came with one out and was his first dinger of the season. He was 2-4 on the night. Yu Chang was 3-4, with a double and two singles.
