WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (July 3, 2019) - Thanks to a sensational 21-game performance, Salem outfielder Marcus Wilson is the Uncle Ray's Carolina League Player of the Month for June, Minor League Baseball announced on Wednesday afternoon. Wilson and Jarren Duran, who claimed the honor in May, helped Salem become the first CL club to claim back-to-back monthly honors since Frederick churned out three straight in 2016.
Wilson paced all Carolina League qualifiers in batting average (.375), OPS (1.227), home runs (6) and total bases (50) during the month of June, while he also shared fifth place on the circuit with 16 RBIs and sixth place with 15 runs scored.

In particular, the Los Angeles native shined in Salem's first series of the second half against first-half Southern Division champion Down East, when he hit .615 (8-for-13) with four home runs and eight RBIs. Not only did he help the Red Sox claim three of four in that set, but he took home the league's Player of the Week honors for June 18-24.
Wilson joined Boston's organization on April 19 following a trade with Arizona. Following a month-long stint in Double-A Portland, Wilson was assigned to High-A, with whom he has posted league-high marks in average (.345) and OPS (1.053) since joining Salem's roster on May 18.
Wilson and the Red Sox conclude a quick three-game series at Fayetteville on Wednesday before returning home for a six-game, five-day homestand against Down East and Wilmington.
