Jackson, Tenn. - The Generals were unable to extending their winning streak to six games Thursday night, as Mobile took the third game of the series 4-2. Jackson scored twice in the first inning, but that was it for the offense. Alex Young went seven innings, but took the loss on the mound.

The game was back-and-forth to start. Mobile (14-18, 44-57) got on the board in the opening half-inning. Young walked two batters and allowed a single to load the bases. Forrestt Allday put the BayBears on top 1-0 with a fielder's choice groundout to second.
Jackson (17-16, 54-49) answered right back in the last of the first. With one out, Travis Denker reached on an error and Kevin Cron lashed a double to left field. Both would score on a Kelly Dugan double off the fence in center to make it 2-1.
That was it for the Generals on offense, as they were kept off the scoreboard the final eight innings. Tyler Carpenter (2-5, 4.50) settled down and got through five to earn his second win of the year. The Generals stranded seven on base and went 1-for-7 with men in scoring position.
The BayBears tied the game and took the lead in the third inning. A hit and an error put men on the corners with none out, and Michael Hermosillo plated a run with a sacrifice fly to center to knot the score at two. Two batters later, Zach Houchins cranked a two-run, two-out home run to left field that put Mobile on top 4-2.
Alex Young (7-6, 4.09) was fantastic outside of the third inning. The lefty worked seven innings, allowing four runs (one earned) on five hits. It was the third-straight start in which he went at least six innings, and his second seven-inning outing of the season. His last start that length was May 19 in Montgomery.
Behind Carpenter, Mobile got four innings of scoreless relief from Kevin Grendell, Michael Dimock and Greg Mahle. Mahle (S, 4) worked a perfect ninth inning to earn the save.
The Generals are now 10-3 versus the BayBears this season. The loss snapped Jackson's five-game win streak, and the team is now three games back of Montgomery in the Wild Card standings.
