The Rochester Red Wings topped the Indianapolis Indians 3-2 in 12 innings Saturday night at Frontier Field. The series continues Sunday afternoon at 1:35 p.m., with another Bark in the Park event, and kids can run the bases with Spikes and Mittsy after the game.

The Indians struck first in the top of the second inning off Red Wings starter Nik Turley. Eric Wood hit an RBI single down the third base line to give Indianapolis an early 1-0 lead.
Indianapolis starter Steven Brault looked impressive to begin the game, allowing no runs while striking out five through three innings. Rochester had seven batters reach base in the first four innings, including two leadoff hits, but two double plays quickly ended any Rochester scoring opportunity.
Joey Terdoslavich extended the Indians' lead to 2-0 with a solo home run in the top of the fifth.
The Red Wings got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning with a bases loaded walk to Niko Goodrum, cutting the Indians lead to 2-1.
Brault was replaced following the RBI walk. He pitched 4.2 innings, allowing one earned run on six hits, five walks and five strikeouts. He threw 107 pitches - 62 for strikes.
Trevor Hildenberger came in for Turley to begin the sixth inning. Turley finished with 5 innings of work, giving up two earned runs on five hits, no walks and five strikeouts. He threw 88 pitches - 55 for strikes.
Hildenberger did a nice job to keep the Indianapolis lead to one before being replaced by Buddy Boshers with two outs in the top of the eighth inning. Hildenberger retired eight out of ten batters faced, allowing only one hit over 2.2 innings pitched. Hildenberger struck out five.
Buddy Boshers pitched a perfect ninth inning for the Wings.
The Wings put the tying run on base in the bottom of the ninth against former Wing Pat Light. Zack Granite reached first on an error, and hustled all the way around to third base when Matt Hague grounded out to shortstop. A sacrifice fly from Daniel Palka brought home Granite to tie the game at 2-2. Mitch Garver walked, and advanced to third base when Goodrum lined a single.
Drew Rucinski pitched the 10th,11th, and 12th innings, allowing one hit and striking out two.
With first baseman Joey Terdoslavich brought on to pitch, the Wings loaded the bases with one out in the 12th. Granite slapped a 2-0 pitch to right-center for the game-winning hit.
Granite and Palka continued their hot hitting, extending their hitting streaks to 13 and 10 games, respectively. Garver walked four times, as Indians pitchers issued 10 walks in the game. Wings pitchers did not issue a walk, and racked up 12 strikeouts.
The Wings out-hit the Indians 12-7. Both managers were ejected in the contest by home plate umpire Jeremy Riggs; Mike Quade in the third inning, and Andy Barkett in the ninth inning.

1973 - Wings offense unable to put runs on the board in loss to Charleston. The first-place Wings stranded ten runners on base, dropping a heartbreaker to Charleston, 5-4. SP Dyar Miller (1-1) took the loss for the Wings, giving up five runs on seven hits over six innings, striking out four while walking two. The Wings jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, but the Charlies rallied for a run in the third, two runs in the fourth, and a run each in the fifth and sixth innings to go ahead 5-3, and Rochester was unable to rally for the win. OF Tom Shopay and SS Fred Frazier each had two hits and scored a run, and Jim Fuller drove in a run to fuel Rochester, but the Wings offense couldn't come up with the clutch hit, and Rochester fell to 25-15 on the year.
1989 - Wings snap five game losing streak as Schilling pitches life into Wings. Mired in the midst of a five-game losing streak, Rochester SP Curt Schilling made sure the Wings would lose no more. Schilling (5-3) went the distance, striking out 10 Indians, while giving up only one run on six hits, as Rochester beat Indianapolis 7-1. C Chris Hoiles provided the offensive support, going two-for-three at the plate, including stroking his third home run of the year, while driving in three runs. SS Tim Hulett had four hits, and drove in two runs to pace Rochester to victory. Rochester put two runs on the board in the second, and added a pair in the third, providing more than enough run support for Schilling. The Wings offense, which had scored just seven runs during the losing streak, equaled that total in the win.
1999 - Red Wings pitchers combined for 21 strike outs in 14 innings, as Rochester swept Ottawa 4-3 and 4-1 in a double header at Frontier field. Gabe Molina picked up his first win of the season in game 1 and Calvin Maduro had a complete game victory in game 2.
2006 - Josh Rabe's solo homer highlighted a four-run 11th inning as visiting Rochester beat Toledo 9-5 on Saturday.

1901 - After dropping a 9-1 decision to Hartford the previous day, things get even worse for the hardluck Syracuse Stars. The season is interrupted for four days when half of the team is injured in a trolley car accident on May 27. The worst injuries are dealt to infielder Lee DeMontreville, who would be out for the rest of the season. George Pfanmiller, also among the 12 injured players that day, would be the winning pitcher when the Stars returned to action May 30, defeating Worcester 8-7. The Stars didn't see many more good days in 1901. Less than two months after the accident the struggling club is moved to Brockton, Massachusetts and finished the season in 7th place at 40-73.

1968- Jeff Bagwell, infielder (Houston Astros), born in Boston, Massachusetts...1971- Corey Beck, NBA guard (Charlotte Hornets)...1975 André 3000, American musician (OutKast)... 1975- Jadakiss, American rapper (The Lox)

1974 - The Pirates Ken Brett no-hits the Padres until the ninth inning, settling for a two-hit 6-0 shutout in the first game of the doubleheader. In the second game, Brett's two-run pinch triple gives the Bucs an 8-7 win.
1997 - Cheeky play helps the Braves win 9-2. With runners on second and third and one out in the fifth inning in San Diego, Braves speedster Kenny Lofton slices a one-hopper into the Padres bullpen. A Padres reliever tries to get out of the way, but the ball bounces off the seat of his pants and falls onto a small ledge between the outfield fence and the bullpen seating area. Left fielder Greg Vaughn, expecting a ground-rule double to be called, stands a few feet away and watches as Lofton touches all the bases.

1962- Ray Charles - I Can't Stop Loving You ...1991-Mariah Carey - I Don't Wanna Cry ...2005- Gwen Stefani - Hollaback Girl
