WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Down East (19-16) offense jumped out to a hot start that proved to be plenty behind Walker Weickel's third consecutive quality start. Blaine Prescott matched a career-high with four hits and six-of-nine starters had multiple hits in the 10-6 victory.
The Woodies tagged Dash (20-15) starter Dylan Cease for a career-high eight runs and chased him from the game in the third inning. A four-run first inning included RBIs from Anderson Tejeda, Chuck Leblanc, and Andretty Cordero.

Winston-Salem plated an unearned run in the bottom of the frame, but Down East responded with three more runs in the second - highlighted by a Chuck Leblanc two-run single. The Woodies led 7-1 after two innings.
Each of the first three batters of the third registered a hit for the Woodies, and EJ Jenkins collected his first RBI as a Wood Duck. Just like Thursday night, the DEWDs used three big innings to jump ahead without a home run.
Weickel retired 16 of the last 19 batters he faced after the first inning and did not forfeit another run. His two hits allowed was a season-low and he collected seven strikeouts in his first win of the 2018 season.
The Woodies added two more runs in the fifth thanks to a Leody Taveras double and a Josh Altmann grounder. With the score 10-1, it would prove to be plenty as the Dash scored five times in the last three innings to attempt a comeback.
Down East has now won four games in a row for the second time this season. They will go for the series win on Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. with lefty Christian Torres taking the mound for the second time this season against the Dash. He will be opposed by righty Luis Martinez for Winston-Salem.
