KINSTON, NC - The finale with Carolina (24-30, 60-62) turned into a blowout over Down East (26-28, 50-73) in a 12-5 final on Thursday night. Josh Altmann connected on his tenth homer of the year to take the team lead and also had a strikeout as an emergency reliever.

Yanio Perez also had a multi-hit night on offense with his second triple of the year in the defeat. Four different Woodies brought home a run including Chuck Moorman, Ti'Quan Forbes, and LeDarious Clark.
On the mound, Adrian Sampson made his first rehab appearance with the Wood Ducks and worked into the fourth inning with six runs allowed - four earned. The game was tied 1-1 after two innings but the Carolina bats never cooled off with 14 hits in the contest.
A four-run fourth inning was the middle of five straight innings of scoring for the Mudcats in the defeat. Josh Altmann was forced to enter in the ninth inning and struck out the first batter he faced - Corey Ray.
The Woodies' highlight on offense was a three-run seventh inning featuring an RBI double from Clark and Altmann's two-run homer.
Despite the series loss, Buies Creek was also defeated by Lynchburg so the Woodies don't lose any ground as they welcome the Astros to town for three games starting on Friday.
