Choosing where the Woodlands Medical Specialists holds the company's annual employee appreciation event has become an easy decision.
What's more family fun than a Pensacola Blue Wahoos baseball game?
"We can't think of a better place to show appreciation for our employees than this way," said Shawna Moore, the company's marketing coordinator.
On Saturday, the Woodlands Medical Specialists will do just that.
A group of 400-plus, including employee spouses, children, and others with family connections, will gather at the Winn Dixie Party Deck for their night out at Blue Wahoos Stadium. The Woodlands, a loyal partner of the Blue Wahoos, is the game night sponsor, including sponsorship of Saturday's specialty "First City" Fiesta Pensacola uniforms and post-game fireworks following the Blue Wahoos 6:05 p.m. game against the Mississippi Braves.
In addition, the Woodlands, which has its main center on North Davis Highway, along with locations in Gulf Breeze, Milton, Crestview and Brewton, Ala., is also the game sponsor on "Giveaway Friday" June 14. That night, the company will provide a drawstring bag to fans entering the ballpark.
"Just the whole atmosphere of a game there is great," Moore said. "We are so thankful to have this as part of the Pensacola community. It is a fun thing to do. It's wholesome. It's a great day for the entire family. It is outdoors. The location is just beautiful, a stadium that overlooks the water.
"I mean, who gets to have that? We are so lucky here."
The Woodlands offers speciality care with physician specialists in areas that include hematology/oncology, radiation oncology, urology, breast healthy, diagnostic imaging, as well as primary care physicians.
At Blue Wahoos Stadium, the Woodlands has a presence in a variety of ways. A company sponsorship sign is located right underneath the main scoreboard on the right field fence padding. The Woodlands has its T-shirt toss.
And in the restrooms, the Woodlands has informative message reminders, wall wraps, on medical checkups and screening. There a reminder, too, that men are 24-percent less likely to visit physicians for checkups, which can only lead to problems.
"It is a really fun, quirky way to get information out and people have always commented about that to me," Moore said. "We have our T-shirt toss and commercials, but it's really the bathroom wraps people love.
"It's educational content that people appreciate."
Moore said the partnership with the Blue Wahoos brings two companies together in common quest.
"We are a community based practice and I don't know of a better fit than the Blue Wahoos," she said. "I think they really represent the Pensacola community and how it's all about family and it's wholesome fun. We love to be a part of that."
The 400-plus attending Saturday will be part of an expected large crowd at the stadium for the series finale game against the M-Braves, the Atlanta Braves affiliate.
"Almost all of our families go. And they will have families and kiddoes running around," Moore said. "They are at a ballgame, enjoying each other's company and enjoying the outdoors and enjoying the sport. We're really glad to be a part of it and we will all be there supporting our home team."
