Woodpeckers rain on Salem in 3-2 loss

SALEM, Virginia (June 24, 2019) - Rain washed away the Red Sox Monday night at Haley Toyota Field as the Fayetteville Woodpeckers took a 3-2 win in 7 innings.

How it Happened
* The Woodpeckers connected the third time through the order with a bases-clearing triple from Corey Julks to take a 3-0 lead in the top of the third inning.
* Ryan Fitzgerald led-off the fourth inning with a single and scored on an Edgar Corcino double to cut Fayetteville's lead 3-1.
* Marcus Wilson dropped a sacrifice fly to draw within a run in the sixth inning but the bases were left loaded after back-to-back strikeouts by Tanner Duncan to get out of the jam.
* After seven innings, the game officially entered a rain delay for 31 minutes before it was determined the rain would not permit a full-conclusion. Fayetteville won 3-2.
