PORTLAND, ME - The Eastern League is pleased to announce the winners of the Eastern League Player of the Week Award and Eastern League Pitcher of the Week Award for the period of August 28th through September 4th.

Harrisburg Senators outfielder Yadiel Hernandez has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of August 28th-September 4th. The 29-year old batted .480 (12-for-25) with three doubles, two home runs, five RBIs, five runs scored, two stolen bases, seven walks, and a .840 slugging percentage in eight games for the Senators last week. Hernandez, who is a native of Matanzas, Cuba, reached base at least once in all eight games he played in last week and had four multiple hit games during the week, including going 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, two runs scored, and one RBI in a 10-9 loss against Akron last Tuesday. The 5'9", 185 lb. slugger led all Eastern League players in batting average (.480), on-base percentage (.594), slugging percentage (.840), and OPS (1.434) last week and also ranked among the weekly leaders in total bases (21-2nd), hits (12-tied 2nd), home runs (2-tied 2nd), walks (7-tied 2nd), doubles (3-tied 3rd), extra-base hits (5-tied 3rd), runs scored (5-tied 7th), and stolen bases (2-tied 7th). Yadiel, who hit .292 with 12 homers, 59 RBIs, and 57 runs scored in 120 games while making his Double-A debut for the Senators this season, was signed by the Washington Nationals as a free agent on October 1, 2016.

Austin Coley, a right-handed starting pitcher for the Altoona Curve, has been selected as the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of August 28th-September 4th. The 6'2", 203 lb. hurler started a pair of games for the Curve last week and had a record of 2-0 with 10 strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA. Coley, who is a native of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, made his first start of the week last Tuesday night at Richmond and threw seven shutout innings in Altoona's 3-1 victory. He gave up four hits while striking out eight batters and walking one to earn the win. Austin made his second start on Sunday against the visiting Harrisburg Senators and fired seven more shutout innings for the Curve in a 6-0 victory. He scattered five hits while striking out two batters and walking one to improve his record to 6-4 on the season. The 25-year tied for the league lead in wins (2), ERA (0.00), and innings pitched (14.0) last week and also finished ranked among the weekly league leaders in WHIP (0.79-7th) and batting average against (.184-9th). Austin, who finished ranked fourth in the league with a 3.01 ERA in 29 appearances for the Curve this season, was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the eighth round of the 2014 draft out of Belmont University.
