Yard Goats Down Fisher Cats 6-4 on Saturday Night

Manchester, NH- The Hartford Yard Goats beat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 6-4 on Saturday night at Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, New Hampshire. Konner Eaton pitched six innings allowing just two runs and earned his fifth win, while Andy Perez cracked a go-ahead RBI double in the fifth inning to break a 2-2 tie and help the Yard Goats down the Fisher Cats for the second straight game. Jacob Humphrey had three hits, including a double and drove in two runs, Jimmy Obertop had two hits and drove in two runs, and Jack O’Dowd smashed a solo home run. Dyan Jorge extended his hit-streak to seven consecutive games. The Yard Goats conclude the road trip on Sunday and return to Dunkin’ Park on Tuesday to host the Reading Fightin Phils.

The Yard Goats scored a pair of runs in the second inning to take a 2-0 lead against Fisher Cats starter and Blue Jays top pitching prospect Nolan Perry. Jimmy Obertop belted a two-run single, scoring Braylen Wimmer and Dyan Jorge, giving the Yard Goats a 2-0 lead.

Hartford starter Konner Eaton pitched well, allowing just two runs (one earned) in six innings with two walks and five strikeouts and recorded his fifth win. The Fisher Cats got an unearned run off the lefty in the fourth inning and then tied the game on Edward Duran’s solo homer in the fourth. Eaton retired nine of the final ten batters faced, including the side in order in the sixth inning.

The Yard Goats took a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning as Andy Perez roped a double to the gap in left center field and GJ Hill scored all the way from first base. Hartford made it 4-2 on Jack O’Dowd’s solo homer in the sixth inning, his sixth of the season in the Eastern League. Jacob Humphrey had a two-out RBI single in the seventh inning, scoring Jimmy Obertop to make it 5-2.

The Fisher Cats scored twice on three hits in the eighth inning against reliever Victor Juarez. Cutter Coffey ripped a two-RBI double to left center field, scoring Dub Gleed and Alexis Hernandez to make it 5-4. Juarez got a ground ball to end the inning.

The Yard Goats got an insurance run in the ninth inning on a clutch two-out RBI single by Jacob Humphrey, scoring Andy Perez and giving Hartford a 6-4 lead. Carlos Torres retired three of four batters faced in the ninth to earn the save.

The Yard Goats conclude the six-game road trip on Sunday afternoon (1:05 PM) at Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, New Hampshire. LHP Stu Flesland III will start for the Yard Goats and RHP Austin Cates will start for the Fisher Cats.
